Our house is located in EL PUERTO DE SANTA MARIA to 3 kms of downtown, in the ca-603 road, in the way to Rota. Is located to 15 kms. of JEREZ DE LA FRONTERA, to 24 km of CADIZ (capital of the Country). One of the oldest cities of the West Europe. Also is to 120 kms of SEVILLA, 150 kms of Morocco (3 hours, including the ferry), and 300 kms. of south Portugal. It's well communicated, with good highways, freeway, railroad and airports. El Puerto de Santa María is in the Centre of Bay of Cádiz, next to the Guadalete river and surrounded by great and important cities like San Fernando, Rota, Puerto Real, Jerez (Sherry) y Cádiz and Sanlúcar de Barrameda (situated on the mouth of the Gualdalquivir river. This interesting town is famous for its "Manzanilla" wine and fine seafood "Langostinos")

        El Puerto enjoys a very pleasant microclimate. The average Summer temperature is around 25 degrees with almost constant sunshine. Spring and Autumn are mild and warm, and even in Winter the daytime temperature rarely falls below 15 C. The town is an important fishing port with a number of historic buildings including the Castle where Christopher Columbus stayed, a palm lined alameda, a maze of narrow bustling streets, a lively central market and a busy shopping and commercial area.

        Puerto Sherry is located on Muralla Beach (named after the old city walls which still stand at the western end of the beach). It has a large marina and is a delightful place for a stroll or to sit in a seafront bar and enjoy the view across e bay and out to the Atlantic. Wonderful at sunset!. The town’s principal activities by now are the production of sherry wine and tourism. The town is long established and has a number of buildings dating back to the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries its origins are Phoenician

        Other interesting places can be visited: Gibraltar, the Andalusian capitals of Granada, Cordova, Seville and Cadiz and the "Route of the White Towns" "Los Pueblos Blancos", are located here and are a popular route with tourists., (typical towns like Arcos de la Frontera, Medina Sidonia, Grazalema, Olvera, Ronda, etc).

        El Puerto is surrounded by two natural parks, and is an important area environmentally:
        Parque Natural Bahía de Cádiz: This area consists of 200 hectares of pine forest which provide green vegetation and a haven for wildlife; Los Toruños salt marshes, a protected area where a variety of fauna, birds, fish and invertebrates proliferate and the 22 kms. of sandy beaches.
        Parque Natural de Donaña on the Guadalquivir delta, an unique ecosystem which supports a wide array of native and migrating birds. The park has 14 pairs of Imperial Eagles and the only lynxes left in Spain live here. It is possible to go on a jeep safari through the park. The Park can be visited

          Other natural parks are within accessible distance: Los Alcornocales, a vast mountain area characterized by forests of cork oaks and Sierra de Grazalema: famous for its spectacular limestone cliffs and gorges. The area is rich in bird and animal species.

         El Puerto de Santa María is a city with important monuments and equipped with all kind of services: great commercial centers, restaurants, lots of tapeo bars, terraces, clubs, cinemas, discopubs, libraries, and center sportives. It has, extensive beaches, aquatic park, casino, old and great warehouses, bullring, museums, cultural activities all year, specially during summer time, where its can see concerts, exhibitions, theater, popular activities and all kind of spectacles.

         Another very interesting attraction to visit is The Royal Andalusian School of Equestrian Art. Located in Jerez, in a French style palace from the 19th century. Can be visited and presents the show "Those Amazing Dancing Andalusian Horses" and Various Sherry bodegas, the wine cellars can be found all over the town. Guided visits in many of them.

     Located in the Center of the Costa de la Luz (Light Coast), is one of the main tourist zones in Andalusia. Nautical and ragatas competitions are frequent in this zone. Puerto Sherry (Sherry Port), main nautical port in Costa de la Luz and the Atlantic Spaish Coast, is only 3 km, five minutes driving. Puerto Sherry and Yatch Club attracts great number of sportsmen, pleasure boats and nautical competition every time.

     A singular attraction in the El Puerto is the typical boat "the Vaporcito" (Adriano III), that makes the trip to Cadiz several times a day crossing the Bay between the harbour of the city and the harbour of Cadiz, very close to downtown. Its duration is about 45 minutes. It is a very interesting trip for the visitor.
